Luang Pu Jai was born on 23th November BE 2405 at Samut Songkram Province. When he was at the age of 21, he was ordained as a monk at Wat Bangkao Thepsak. After his ordination, Luang Pu Jai studied Dharma, Thai and Khmer Language under the guidance of Luang Phor Jui. Luang Phor Jui was the abbot of Wat Bangkao Thepsak during that period of time. Afterward, Luang Phor Jai went to practice meditation and magic in deep forest. While practicing, Luang Pu Jai met Luang Phor Yim Wat Nongbua. Therefore, Luang Pu Jai asked Luang Phor Yim whether he could learn magic from him. Luang Phor Yim had to test Luang Pu Jai’s mediation before agreeing to teach him. So the test that Luang Phor Yim had for Luang Pu Jai was to use his concentration to cut the candle. Luang Pu Jai spent a total of 8 days cutting the candle. Luang Phor Yim then agreed to teach Luang Pu Jai. In fact, Luang Pu Jai studied magic and meditation from Luang Phor Yim for a long time and whenever Luang Pu Jai had free time, he went to travel Wat Nongbua to pay his respect and served Luang Phor Yim. As Luang Phor Yim was well-known for his Takrut Loop Om Lokkathat and many other amulets. At a later stage, Luang Pu Jai  became the teacher of Luang Phor Yod Wat Kaew Charoen. Luang Phor Yod happens to be the grand-nephew of Luang Phor Yim Wat Nongbua.
